Dennis Foon
Dennis Foon was born in Detroit, Michigan. From a very young age, he wanted to be a writer. In junior high, he wrote an advice column for his school’s newspaper.
After graduation, Foon studied for an Honours degree in Religious Studies and Creative Writing. After completing his first degree, he moved to Canada to attend graduate school. At UBC, Foon obtained a Master’s of Fine Arts in Playwriting.
Early in his career, Foon wrote mostly fiction. A friend suggested that Foon write a play for him to produce. Since then, Foon has written over twenty award-winning plays for adults and young audiences. He also writes for TV and film.
Foon was the founding artistic director of the Green Thumb theatre. He and his family live in Vancouver.
