And in the Morning
And in the Morning by John Wilson, discusses the problems that arise from war.
Jim, the grandson of a war veteran is given his grandfather’s journal that
retells the experiences he faced in World War I. As the story progresses Jim
realizes what war is truly like and finds out what sacrifices are made because
of it. At the end of the journal he learns that his real grandfather was also
named Jim and that Robert Thorpe was the Lieutenant he had served under. The
book retells one of the many war stories that soldiers have passed down to
younger generations.
This book with its vivid images of the true nature of war remind us of the old
lie "Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori."
