Susan Juby This is the fourth year that teens have nominated the very popular Susan Juby for the Stellar award! Susan Juby was born in Ponoka, Alberta, but grew up in Smithers, BC. In school, Juby had trouble fitting in, because she was outspoken, and didn't follow the local fashions. However, at around age 12-13, she decided that she was going to fit in, and transformed herself into a party girl. Despite the fact that Juby had received some suspensions for smoking, one of her teachers invited her to become part of a “directed studies” class. His understanding of her situation and confidence in her abilities were a great inspiration, and she completed a project on 19th century fashion. After a brief stint in fashion design school, Juby completed a degree in Arts. She worked in the publishing industry, which inspired her to return to school and obtain a master's degree in publishing. .
