Mike Tanner
Mike Tanner, born in Bombay, India and raised in Burnaby, B.C., has been a professional touring, recording musician for more than 25 years—with an emphasis in classic rock. He taught himself to play the guitar at the age of 15 and his three books to date reflect this musical style and experience.
Resurrection Blues was inspired by his life “on the road” as a performer. Flat-Out Rock profiles pivotal moments in the professional careers of ten rock greats. Acting the Giddy Goat was an attempt to break free from the limited subject and content depth possible in songwriting.
An avid collector of curiosities in his youth, Mike collected Archie comics, Bruce Lee posters and Hot Wheels cars among other things—except for girlfriends, to which he candidly admits. He dislikes any commercial establishment with “world” in the title such as “Mattress World” or “Donut World.”
Mike, his wife (Robyn), son (Flynn), and dog (McLean) live in Toronto. He is an avid sports fan, having competed at the provincial level in soccer as well as track and field. He also played for several years on the Canadian national men’s field hockey team. He reveres Bobby Orr and is working on a third novel.
