Sylvia McNicoll
Growing up in Montreal, Sylvia McNicoll thought all successful writers were dead Brits or Americans, so she never dreamed of becoming an author. But she did love to write.
When she got to high school, schoolwork took a backseat to boys and sports. She’s still sporty; she likes swimming, rollerblading, and cross-country skiing, and has a blue belt in judo that she got researching one of her books.
After college, she worked in the business world by day and worked on her Bachelor of Arts in English and Economics by night. When she left her job to raise her kids, she decided to focus on what she really wanted to do and started writing again.
A project for a writing class became her first published novel, Blueberries and Whipped Cream.
McNicoll now calls Burlington, Ontario, home. She has written short stories, magazines articles, and more than 20 books, including those written under her secret identity, Geena Dare.
