Sandy Rideout

The creative partnership of Yvonne Collins and Sandy Rideout started quite inauspiciously when they met while working at a Toronto Public Library. “Writing books together was the last thing on our minds at that point. In fact, our animated discussions in the book stacks about boys, clothes and beauty products soon led the evil head librarian to schedule us on separate shifts.”

Years later, after several university degrees, Yvonne and Sandy wrote a book for teenagers called Totally Me: The Teenage Girl's Survival Guide. They then went on to publish a novel for adults called Speechless, and one for the YA crowd: Introducing Vivien Leigh Reid: Daughter of the Diva.

Life for Yvonne and Sandy seems to be as interesting as any book plot. Indeed, while Yvonne now works on film sets, she once considered becoming a police officer . . . until she flunked the psychological profile! Sandy currently works in corporate communications. Although she enjoys her work, she admits “The best job I ever had was handing out clean towels at [a] gym—with an all-male staff and an open door to the men's change room.” --BG
